1)  From Your WishList Member Dashboard

You will see a link to the latest version.

2) From Within The Customer Center

Step #1 – Login to the Customer Center

Step #2 – Click The License Key Link Under “Your WishList Downloads”

Step #3 – Locate Your Download Info

Here you will see both your license information along with the download links to the products you have purchased (including WishList Member).

This download link always contains the latest version of WishList Member.

What If I Need To Upgrade?

Each purchase of WishList Member comes with 1 year of unlimited updates.

If you are outside of that 1-year period, you can upgrade your license and get another full year of updates for $47.

Just follow the download instructions outlined above and you will be directed to the upgrade page accordingly.  Once you’ve upgraded, you’ll be able to then download the latest version of WishList Member.

Best Practices Include…

1) Deactivating WLM first (you’re settings won’t be lost).

2) Unzip the WLM zip file.

3) Upload the “wishlist-member” folder to your WP plugins folder.

This will overwrite the old version (don’t worry, your settings will still be there!). If you’re uploading using an FTP program, make sure your “transfer type” settings are “Binary” and NOT “ASCII”.

4) Then activate WLM in your plugins.

At WishList headquarters we are continuously looking for ways we can improve the experience our customers have with our products.

That means we are always looking at how our customers are using what we create and what we can do to make that experience better.

What we’ve found with WishList Member is that many of our customers are expanding beyond the “traditional” membership site and have begun using WishList Member for alternative applications (ex. private site for clients, internal company site etc.).

As such, we thought there were a few things we could do to help make things a little bit easier… no matter how you plan on using it.

That meant some new features…

Some “tweaks” to current features…

And some changes that will help you get your membership site up faster and easier

Some of these features are BIG (very big in fact!).

Some are small.

Some are just “handy”.

New Features Coming in WishList Member v2.7

1) Redesign of WishList Member Interface

It’s been almost 3 years since we launched WishList Member and the user interface (for the most part) has stayed the same the whole time.

But it was getting a little outdated and we decided to make the plunge and give things a fresh new look.

Along the way we moved a few things around, revised the navigational tabs and organized the settings to make it easier to find what you need.

We’d be remised if we didn’t give a BIG thank you to Shawn Hesketh of www.LeftLaneDesigns.com who helped us with the redesign of the interface.  We’ve worked with Shawn many times and have always been impressed by the quality of his work but it also helped that he’s an avid fan of WishList Member (www.WP101.com) so it was a natural fit

2)  Pay Per Post

Have you ever wanted to sell access to just “one post”?

…or…

Have you ever wanted to give one of your members access to a post/page while other members (who belong to the same level) wouldn’t have access to that special page?

Now you can

This feature has been in the works for a long time but we wanted to make sure we did it right.

What’s cool is that it seemlessly hooks into the same shopping cart integration you are using for your existing membership levels.

Plus, you can also use this feature without requiring people to “pay”.

“What do you mean?”

Let’s say you have a private coaching site where you are using WishList Member to manage an area just for your 10 coaching clients.

But one of the things you want to do is have a page or post that contains information just for that particular client.

The “old” way to manage that would be to create a membership level for each client (which isn’t that big of a deal if you only had 10 clients).

However, let’s say you had 100 clients.

100 clients = 100 levels (now that’s getting a little crazy!)

Well, with this new feature you can assign “per member” access to a particular post or page – which is perfect for a private coaching site where you may want to have a post or page with information specific to that client.

Pretty cool right?

We’re VERY excited to see how you and our other customers begin using this because there are MANY creative applications of this one feature alone.

3)  Custom Post Type Integration

As WordPress evolves, WishList Member evolves with it.

And as WordPress now incorporates Custom Post Types, we have enhanced WishList Member to support this as well.

The “protection” of custom post types was there before, but we just made it better.

So if you like using the Custom Post Types, giddy up because WishList Member now has full support for them

4)  New Shopping Cart and Autoresponder Integrations

We’ve expanded the list of shopping cart and autoresponder integrations.

2CheckOut and UltraCart were easily two of the most common requests – and they are both now included.

You’ll also find iContact and Interspire Email Marketer in the Autoresponder Integration drop down.

5)  Webinar Integration

This integration actually came from our own needs.

When we launched our Membership Training Course one of the things that we wanted to do was automatically register someone who belonged to a membership level to a series of live webinars (that we were running through GoToWebinar.com).

So we built that integration into WishList Member so everyone could benefit

1) Custom Registration Fields 

This has easily been the #1 request we’ve had from existing customers and we are VERY proud to now include Custom Registration Fields as part of the WishList Member registration page. 

You want to collect your members address? 

No problem, just add the fields. 

Want them to click a “Terms of Service”? 

No problem, just add the checkbox. 

Now there are MANY options with how you design your registration pages and all of this is done within a beautiful drag-and-drop interface. 

It’s fast, it’s beautiful and most importantly it gives you the control you want  

Once you’ve uploaded the new version you’ll find it by going to the “Settings” tab and then clicking the “Registration Page” link on the right. 

Then you’ll see the options for “Custom Registration Forms”. 

NOTE:  You can also create a custom registration form for each membership level which means you can tailor the registration page even more for specific levels

2) WishList Member Setup Wizard
 

Knowing what settings are “must haves” and which ones are “nice to haves” can be a challenge. 

So to help get you up and running even faster, we’ve added a “Setup Wizard” that will appear when you first install WishList Member. 

The Wizard will walk you through 4 steps – each covering the “must have” elements for your site. 

And in some cases, it will even create these elements for you if you request it (error pages, login redirect pages etc.). 

Plus, you’ll see clear instructions on the right of every step so you know exactly what’s happening. 

This will help speed up the process of getting your membership sites up and running while still maintaining complete control over each aspect of your site as you can always go back and modify your settings afterwards. 

NOTE:  The Setup Wizard will automatically appear on a fresh install of WishList Member.  However, you can always use it again by going to “Settings – Setup Wizard”.

3)  Import/Export Settings 

Have you ever built a membership site and then wanted to “replicate” it somewhere else? 

But going through all the settings was probably a real pain in the butt right? 

Not anymore! 

The “Import/Export Settings” feature will allow you to quickly and easily export all your WishList Member settings and therefore “import” them to a new site with absolute ease. 

This makes the process of setting up multiple membership sites SO DARN EASY  

You can find this feature by going to: “Settings – Import/Export”.

4)  Streamlined Membership Levels Area 

With WishList Member being used by over 23,500+ membership sites and online communities, the ways WishList Member is being used is growing – and it’s VERY exciting. 

One of the things we noticed was that some customers like to use the “Membership Levels” as a way of organizing different groups of members within their sites. 

This would often lead to a LOT of membership levels and it began to get a bit “cluttered” for them. 

So what we’ve done in this release is streamline the whole user interface for the “Membership Levels” tab to make it easier and more efficient (especially for those site owners who have a lot of levels). 

All the options for each level are still there.  Now you just access them by clicking the “Edit” link for the level you want to work with.

The primary goal of this release was to improve the “ease of use” when setting up your membership sites using WishList Member.

We are VERY proud of this new release of WishList Member as it contains many popular shopping cart integrations, updates and new features.

If you’re running a large membership site you’ll also notice a dramatic difference in speed.  There have been some MAJOR improvements made to WishList Member making this a release we recommend everyone upgrade to.

Highlighted Features

1) Folder Protection Feature

This feature basically gives you the ability to add files to a protected folder so that the only people who will be able to access those files are members who belong to the appropriate level.

So if you have download links from within your membership (PDF, MP3′s or images etc.), you no longer have to worry about those links being passed around to people who don’t belong to your membership.

Because if someone tries to go to that URL (and they are not logged in), they’ll be sent to an error page

To use this, you first have to enable it in your WishList Member “Settings”.  Here is a quick screenshot:

Once you’ve enabled it in your settings, you’ll then be able to specify the folder by going to “Membership Levels – Membership Content”.

Then select the level you want to work with and you’ll then see the folder protection on the right.  Here is a screenshot:

2) Cancel Date

This feature gives you greater control over the date when a certain member will be cancelled from a level.

If you want to extend their membership to a particular date, no problem.

End their membership on a date?  No problem.

To use this, you’ll need to go into the “Members” tab.  Then select the member(s) you want to work with and select “Cancel From Level” in the drop down.

It will then ask you what level you want to cancel them from and on what date.  Here is a screenshot:

3)  Improved Speed

As more and more people begin using WishList Member, we began seeing it used in a variety of unique ways.

Part of that also meant we had larger customers who were moving to WishList Member to manage membership sites containing 10,000+ members.

Because of that we went back to the drawing board to see how we could improve WishList Member even more to make it faster and more stable as your sites continue to grow in size.

This resulted in a complete overhaul in the way WishList Member handles member info and the protection settings.

Now this information is contained in their own separate database which has proven to dramatically increase the speed – especially with larger sites.

We’ve also found these improvements to increase the stability even more across many server environments.

This is one of the primary reasons we are encouraging everyone to upgrade to this version.

4)  Shopping Cart Integrations

We are VERY excited to announce a variety of popular shopping cart integrations.

Each of these shopping carts now have Full Integration which means if a member stops paying, they will automatically be blocked from accessing your membership site.

The new shopping cart integrations include:

• InfusionSoft
• 1ShoppingCart
• Premium WebCart
• Red Oak Cart
• PayPal Sandbox (perfect for testing your PayPal integration)

These can be found in the “Integrations” tab.  You’ll then see each one listed in the drop down menu.  After selecting an option you’ll then see the integration instructions accordingly.

5)  Other Helpful Integrations

Our team is always looking to expand the ways WishList Member can integrate with services you are already using.

One of those that has been on our list for a while is iDevAffiliate.

Now we are pleased to announce full integration with iDev which allows you to add a full affiliate program to any WishList Member powered membership.

This is being released as an “extension” and will not show up in the “Integrations” tab until you add it.

You can do this by simply dragging the appropriate file into your “extensions” folder contained inside your “wishlist-member” folder (contained within your WordPress plugins folder).

For a limited time, this extension will be provided for free to all current customers.  You’ll be able to find the download link inside the Customer Center.
